Despite suffering an injury during his match against Okada at the G1 Climax special in the U.S., Cody Rhodes made his match against Michael Elgin for the Ring of Honor title at today’s Glory Pro Wrestling event in St Louis. Cody won with a roll up after he both hit finishers. According to WZ’s Mike Killam it was a great match, and even better than his NJPW bout. The event was a legit sellout with more than 600 people.

According to The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the current plan for Kenny Omega, who was crowned the first ever IWGP United States Champion at the G1 Climax Specials in the U.S., is for him to defend the Title in both NJPW and Ring of Honor. His first ROH Title defense is set to come this October.
Furthermore, with Omega’s historic title win, it’s likely he will remain in NJPW until 2019. This was something Omega had previously told NJPW officials who were under the impression that 2017 might be his final year in the promotion. With regards to WWE, it’s always possible he could make the jump sooner than 2019, if WWE makes him some kind of massive money offer that he couldn’t refuse, but as of now the plan remains for him to stick with NJPW.
Omega really wants the new IWGP U.S. Title to remain a significant title in NJPW, and not fall by the wayside like the Never Title, or the IWGP Intercontinental Title before Shinsuke Nakamura elevated it during his title reign. With NJPW being fully committed to returning to the United States in 2018, Omega hopes to continue his feud with Okada for the IWGP Heavyweight Title, and then be booked to face Kota Ibushi in the finals of G1 Climax 27. The IWGP U.S. Title could be NJPW’s top Title whenever the company runs events in the United States.
