First episode was amazing. I don't care if anything feels staged or something isn't that great, every part of the show is so different that I love it all. It's not trying to be WWE! If only TNA would have tried that. In fact, the only complaint I have about the show was Striker pointing out that "this isn't WWE!" We get that. They did such a great job of showing it that they really didn't need him clarifying it.
I loved having Morrison back, and it's awesome to have him pushed as a (or the) top guy. Puma is obviously great too, and they set up potential storylines down the line with Konnan "corrupting" him. The heel authority figure trope is killing me, but the guy plays it really well so I'll give it a shot. The way they shoot the backstage stuff is right out of a TV show, none of the over-production we get in WWE with lights everywhere and people standing awkwardly shoulder to shoulder. When they can make Chavo Guerrero look like he has some personality, just by sitting in a chair, they have to be onto something.
So I have a couple more shows to get through, and I expect to enjoy them just as much or more. I hear Judas Mesias is back with Maxine as his valet, so I'm sold. Oh, and Angela Fong is involved? Take my money.

To get you in a Royal Rumble mood here's Lucha Underground from a few weeks ago. The full show is an Aztec Warfare match. A 20 person Royal Rumble but you are eliminated via pin or submission, so they can do loads of crazy dives to the outside.

The last couple of weeks of Lucha Underground have been tip-top. Aerostar & Drago had a cracking match to start the show. That was followed by Brian Cage & Prince Puma (Ricochet) who teared the house down. A Pentagon Jr. squash match was next. Then the main event was John Morrison vs. King Cuerno which was another really good high-flying match up come wild brawl.

This weeks show started with Fenix vs. Mil Muertes in an impressive big man/small man match-up. Big Ryck vs. Sexy Starr was next in a so-so match that told a story for the next chapter of Ryck vs. The Crew. The main event was Alberto El Patron vs. Texano. They put on some high quality video packages detailing their stories and rivalry. This was AEP's in-ring debut on Lucha Underground and was another really good match. Both have instant chemistry from their previous feud in AAA.

I've heard so many great things about Lucha Underground. I'm taking the dive and tuning in.

Just watched the latest episode. All in all, it was pretty good.
The backstage segments are unique. If WWE tried it, it wouldn't work but it seems to fit LU well. They have some intriguing characters (which helps with so many masked wrestlers) and yeah, it just seems really cool.
The only thing I was a bit unsure of was the inter-gender matches. I mean, there's only so much you can do when Ezekiel Jackson is fighting a woman a quarter his size. Definitely going to watch again though.

Another epic week of Lucha Underground. Pentagon Jr had his first competitive match against Argenis. Ivellise & Angelico had an entertaining match with Son of Havoc as guest referee. Then Johnny Mundo & King Cuerno stole it with a cage match. Somewhere in the middle was an excellent vignette of Konnan making himself a new cane. Something as basic as that, they give dramatic theatrics and over accentuate the power of the gimmick.

Ok, so where's the best place to see these shows??

Mil Muertes vs. Fenix, Casket Match is a must watch. Absolutely brilliant wrestling match, best TV match I've seen in years. It was brutal, dramatic, entertaining, full of suspense.

The rest of the show was also very good. Match 3 in the best of 5 between Drago & Aerostar was as exciting as the other two. Big Ryck vs. The Crew in a 3 on 1 elimination handicap match was an entertaining way to end the feud.
Next week, you've got Alberto El Patron vs. Texano for the AAA strap in a bull-rope match. Brian Cage vs. Prince Puma for the Lucha Underground title in a street fight.

Cuerno is my favorite. Love that character. When i first saw him. Ome out with the deer head, i nearly tuned out completely, but the way hes been booked stalking his prey, the idea of beating his opponents as a trophy, love it all.

So this happened this week on Lucha Underground.

The whole match had great storytelling. It was a triple threat trio's match for the new trio's title. The smallest team of Ivelisse, Son of Havoc & Angelico finally won but were injured and tired from the match. The matchmaker Dario Cuerto then brought out The Crew and said you have to beat this team to win the belts.

The 45 minute iron man match between Prince Puma & Johnny Mundo a couple of weeks back was class.

Here's the full highlights of the first season of Lucha Underground.
Ultima Lucha, 2 hour season finale is next week.

The season finale of Lucha Underground, Ultima Lucha was this week. A chaotic two hour extravaganza tying together all of the storylines.
Johnny Mundo (Morrison) vs Alberto El Patron was an exciting 20 minute, heat filled brawl with a surprise debut at the end. Pentagon Jr vs. Vampiro went from hardcore match to deathmatch pretty quickly. Flaming tables, light-tube baseball bats, thumbtacks. Mental, blood drenched mess of a match with a twist at the end. The 7 way fight for the Aztec medallion match was a high flying spectacle as expected. Texano vs. Blue Demon Jr. was short and sweet because it was the weak link on the card. The main event, Mil Muertes vs. Prince Puma was a classic big man/small man match. Puma was hitting him with everything but the man of 1000 deaths wouldn't stay down. To finish, there was a sweet video package showing all of the wrestlers, going their separate ways until the next season.

Season 2 trailer just gone up online. Starts on 27th January. Rey Mysterio has joined the crew.

Here's the first episode of season 2 of Lucha Underground. You will not find better production on a wrestling show than this. Check out the first 7 minutes for proof.

Lucha Underground has now been added to Itunes in the US. You can buy the whole 1st season (39 episodes) for $45 in HD or $35 in SD. You can buy single episodes for $3 in HD or $2 in SD. They're also doing a season pass for season 2 for $40 in HD or $30 in SD. So if you buy that, the shows get downloaded to your Itunes each week automatically.
The 1st episode of season 2 is available on there for free as a taster too.
Oh, and they've already announced there's going to be a season 3.

They are getting momentum.. I still want to see a wrestling program get on a channel that is accessable. I don't know how wrestling works in the UK when it comes to the channels it is on. But here in the states, is so hard to see anything other than WWE on cable or sate light, unless you pay for all the higher packages. Even then, the channels they are on are buried. Still think it is cool that they are advertising during Raw

What a main event on this weeks LU. The whole show was good but they pulled it out the bag for the finale. It was Mil Muertes vs. Prince Puma vs. Pentagon Jr. for the Lucha Underground World Title. Absolutely mental highspots, violent & brutal, exciting & entertaining.
Skip to 30 minutes in, to watch the match below.

I bought season one. Can't wait to watch

I've seen bits and pieces of the new show and it looks a promising alternative. The vignettes and background stories are of a production standard higher than what anyone else is doing.
There are a few familiar faces in John Morrison & Ricochet who main evented the first show and had a very good match. Chavo Guerrero has popped up and Ricky Banderas who was Judas Mesias in TNA has debuted as Mil Muertes. He has Maxine from NXT as his manager and she looks as smashing as ever. Ivelisse from Tough Enough was in a tag match on the 2nd show and that needs to be seen just for her arse in a pair of leather hot-pants. Top draw. On the third show they had a 3 way match between Drago, Fenix & Pentagon Jr. An absolute car crash, video game style spotfest that was very entertaining.
It has Vampiro & Matt Striker on commentary and one of the people behind it is former WWE writer Chris DeJospeh who also was the infamous Big Dick Johnson.
The only downside so far is the venue/crowd is similar to what WSX had, a TV crowd that feels artificial.
