The thing with forums is..
The thing with forums is, is that they are kind of the way of the old now. Not many people go on these things like they used to do. Because lets face it, even though you can access forums from you phone, they still are kind of a pain in the ass on the phone. Most of the popular forums around are already established forums. I think its really difficult to build up a forum to be really popular now days. Since we dont have a main wrestling site, its even harder for us.
The new thing that has taken over for forums now are Facebook groups. Facebook has also been pushing groups pretty hard recently. I'm a member of four groups mainly on Facebook and they are kind of like 4w to me. I know everyone on there and its a community. Its also easier to build a group than it is a forum now and easier to get new members.
Personally, I dont really even bother with the forums on my phone really. Its surprisingly easier to post well thought out posts on facebook groups, you don't have to go through so many steps and its easier to comment. I know going on the forum with my phone really deters me from making posts on 4w... When I have my laptop out, I go on and post and stuff. But now at home I rarely bring the laptop out, I bring it out at work, that is when I do most of my posting. Because its a heck of alot easier. Back in 4w's heyday, people would actually go on their computers regularly. Now I don't just sit in front of the computer anymore for extended periods of time.
Just some food for thought here. I'd always want to keep the forums around for the GM Game and 4CW because its impossible to do those on a facebook group. But for everything else, a facebook group would be so much better, and easier.. Plus their would be more people. Now I know there is a 4w group a long time ago that I made, but that one needs to be deleted. If we were to make one it should be called "4w Wrestling". Just some ideas here...

The Blue Print · 1,488 commentsIts not a group, its a 4w Page. A page is basically just there for you to promote your website, busines, and many other things. I group is totally different on Facebook. You have admins and everything on them, they are pretty addicting, I never thought I would ever get used to them, but I did very quickly. 4w probably could gain more members with a group
The thing is the group wouldnt be there to promote the forum, the forum basically would be there to compliment the group. I don't know how it would all work. But I do think it would be cool.

The Blue Print · 1,488 commentsGo on facebook, find a group, and join it. You'll see a difference! On a page only the person running the page can post stuff. In a group anyone can post stuff. It's pretty fun, I get into some pretty good conversations in my few groups.

Main Event · 734 commentsTo be fair I am on a few groups, but as they're primarily selling groups and gig based, I don't really post on them. And my news feed is full of enough crap as it is ;-)

The Blue Print · 1,488 commentsWell you tend to not mind your news feed getting filled with posts from the groups after a while. Well if they are groups that you are in that are about your hobby. Plus a 4w group wouldn't be hard to get used to because we would all know each other. Then people add people, those people add people, etc.

Admin and 4CW Head Booker · 5,095 commentsI'll never join the Facebook group as I like my privacy on facebook. We may not be a big forum or the most active but our community is better than 95% of forums, which are usually filled with trolls.

The Blue Print · 1,488 commentsHow is your privacy going to be invaded if you join a Facebook group? As long as you don't add anyone you are fine.

The Blue Print · 1,488 commentsWe aren't just small, we are borderline grave yard around here. It'd be a way to make the 4W name bigger. I'd say don't diss something until you try it out.

Better than Essa · 1,762 commentsI like 4w as a place to catch up with a group of people I know. I don't think it'll be better if it gets bigger. I use the Observer boards, possibly the most active board of relatively smart fans, and it's not actually that great. Since we're never going to be able to compete with that, we should probably just stick to what we're good at; Reminiscing about how great 2004 was.
Browsing on phones does suck though, posting is even worse. Keyboards weren't meant for tiny touchscreens.

Money Bags · 83 commentsJust caught (maybe noticed again) your handle Chux, "Better Than Essa" , you big jerk. But your comments do ring true. Only thing I would add is we are all older, some have kids, married, whatever. Not lots of time to comment.

That's the problem. People just come here to just talk about old times and skip over the topics and don't post any themselves. I'm sure a lot of people who return still watch wrestling, a comment here or there on some of the threads would be cool.
Like in the group chat on facebook for Raw. And we still are talking through out the day in it. And it's usually about wrestling. Reamer, BPN, and John Hartigan are all in there talking. I wish they could take five minutes to surf the boards and make a comment or two. I get on these streaks where I get really motivated to get this place active again, then lose the motivation due to inactivity. I really only care so much is because I try joining other forums and I just done like them that big and crowded with members. But I also don't like a ghost town.
Also I'm off the group idea. We will just continue to try and use the 4w facebook fan page to try and draw in posters. Which is frustrating because no one new has come. I'm assuming it's due to lack of content. Which would explain my plethra of posts the few days. To give people something to reply to.

Admin and 4CW Head Booker · 5,095 commentsIt's not the big deal you're making it though. This forum will never be a huge wrestling forum no matter how many posts you make.
Even at its busiest, 4w wasn't what I would consider big. It's one of the main reasons I joined. All the big forums have no sense of community.

The Blue Print · 1,488 commentsI'm not really making it a huge deal, and I agree I like the boards to be a small community. But a community of over at least 20 or so that are active on a regular basis. Idk, I like having new posts to read when I log on. Not a ghost town 😋. I don't think anyone would be opposed to more activity :-)

The Blue Print · 1,488 commentsI'm thinking it'll be a slow process but every once in a while the Facebook fan page will draw in a member or two. Also I plan on tweeting during Raw and PPVs. I'll have to read up on how Twitter works and how to , make my tweets effective.
I've read up on Facebook page building lately and found some useful tips. I never knew I could tag other pages in my posts on there.

The Moon Maiden · 654 commentsThe sense of community is also what appealed to me to 4W when Aussie led me here years ago. Small group of active members having actual discussions. No meme, no spam, just a community. I dunno if I'd participate in a FB thing personally, but it does seem to be the way or the future huh? Miss the feel of small dedicated forums. Glad this one is still here.
