United also bought Ferrera for £29 million. I guess it's not so bad considering they didn't spend anything last year, but still...
Apart from white guy afro for £27m, even though they could have got him for £23m.
They could have just not bothered. It would have made no difference.
True that, he did fuck all. Which was odd considering how well the manager knew him. You'd think he'd have been able to bring the best out of the floppy haired one. Probably the biggest flop signing of last season.
He was so bad. I read a stat that he did not get a single goal, assist or through ball for United all season.

Because they kept playing him in a holding role. He had a pretty good season the year before at Everton, because he'd always creep forward into attacking midfield, but at United (and England, apparently) no one is allowed to take Rooney's spot. It didn't help that the rest of the United squad were pants too, but his cause wasn't helped by being played so far back.

The price for average British players is ridiculous.
Robert Snodgrass - £6m
Jake Livermore - £8m
World Cup goalkeeper & La Liga goalkeeper of the season, Keylor Navas - £8m

Agreed. Snodgrass is about three times overpriced there. Livermore even more so.

I don't know. Looks more like Navas is drastically undervalued to me.

Goalkeepers generally cost less than outfield players. £8m for him seems about right.

Rob Green would cost 15 mil at least.

He's worth more than £8m but that's the figure Levante set as his buy out clause. He's only on £5k a week too.

So we just sold Rodwell for £10 million and we're abusing our relationship with NYFC to use Lampard for the year. Winning all round.

Lampard's shit though. Anonymous passenger for 89 minutes but might hit a 20 yard screamer into the top corner if within distance.

He's not taking a spot from Touré, Silva or Fernandinho though. He's going to be a bench warmer and he'll play in league and FA cup matches. For that role he's excellent.
More good news, it looks like we got rid of Garcia. What more could I ask for?

Swansea confirm £8m deal for Argentina international defender Federico Fermandez.
Much needed signing and hopefully one more defender can sign before the end of the season.
Very happy with our signings this summer.

Apparently United have bought Rojo and loaned Nani out. Not a bad move for them, but they still have work to do.

Man Utd look set to smash the English transfer record with the £60m signing of di Maria. Is £60m too much tho? I've seen a lot of people saying that it is whilst others are saying that it's good business because he's world class.
£60 million is too much, but they had to do something.

I think 60m is worth it, Luiz went for 50 Mil a few weeks ago and Di Maria was one of the best in the world last season. Real Madrid and Barca spend dumb money on players and Chelsea, City and Liverpool have all done worse deals.

In the current financial state of football it seems fair enough. Going price for world class players these days.

He's a world class left winger. Shame United don't play wingers any more...

If Van Gaal is going ahead with this back three, they're likely going to need guys on the wings. It may all work out pretty well.

He needs wing backs. ADM plays on the left, which makes you wonder why they just paid £33M for Luke shaw ( who is a left back/wing back). ADM is a great player, but he either doesn't work at United or Luke shaw is going to move on pretty quickly...
I recon they'll go back to a 4-5-1 formation within 5 games.
That 3 at the back nonsense was on borrowed time, I think Van Gaal realised it won't work with Jones-Evans-Smalling back 3. He'll go for some sort of 442 diamond formation with Mata behind RVP and Rooney and Di Maria and Valencia on the wings. They'll need a solid DM for that though.

I reckon he'll stick with it and improve the defence. Already got Rojo who is very good. Jones I like, but they'll definitely need someone else there as well. Their defence is the weakest I've seen it. Surprised that it's not been more of a priority.
I could see them switching to a 442 of some kind tho at some point. But reckon he'll stick with the 352 for now.
£60 million is good money for Di Maria. I think the only reason it is being questioned is because it is a player surplus to requirements at Real Madrid. Pundits and commenters have failed to see that he only look ordinary because of the company he kept at Real Madrid. When you have James, Benzema, Bale, and Ronaldo as your forward players, anyone would look ordinary. Fact is, he is a special player and a rarity in world football. He can play on either side of the wing and sometimes he has played through the middle.
He doesn't have the box office appeal of Cristiano Ronaldo, Zlatan Ibrahimovic or Lionel Messi but how many do anyways? He's a great player.
