Perro Aguayo Jr. (July 23, 1979 – March 21, 2015)

Pedro Aguayo Ramirez better known as Perro Aguayo Jr. passed away at early this morning after suffering "cervical spine trauma” during his match where he teamed with Manik facing Extreme Tiger & Rey Mysterio Jr. in Rey’s first match back in his home of Tijuana since being released from WWE.

There's a video going around. You don't see what caused the injury, you just see Aguayo Jr  flopping on to the ropes and other wrestlers seeing to him. Konnan tried to resuscitate him at ringside but apparently he was already gone by then.

Rey Mysterio said:

(translated from Spanish)
Just formed a friendship between brothers who opened years ago and we should not question the designs of God. But on this occasion I wonder why and I do not understand , miss you and I will take with me the rest of my life , rest in peace HijoDelPerro.

Better than Essa

That's not totally true, you do see what causes the injury. The whole thing is right there. He's supposed to take a 'rana into the ropes to set up the 619 but jumps to the floor for some reason, then quickly rolls back in and they improvise a dropkick to the back instead. Aguayo sees it coming, he's half turned to Mysterio when the kick comes, so he takes it on the shoulder and flops onto the ropes, and that's the last movement he makes.

There's some pretty sad scenes when everyone starts to realise what's going on, with Rey visibly crying and Konnan slapping Aguayo's face, trying to wake him up.

The latest is that he actually had a pulse when he got to the hospital, but was too far gone. The on-site medics were busy with other guys who had taken big bumps earlier in the night, which is why there were no stretchers available and they carried him out on a piece of wood instead. It's possible they could have saved him if they'd gotten to him sooner, but who knows?
