Not really surprised that AJ doesn't want to go back considering how many chances they've had and keep on going down the shitter. Can imagine how the meeting went.
AJ: So, how are things going to be different now?
TNA: Different?
AJ: Yeah, different. You know, TNA keeps getting TV deals, blowing money and then really struggling. I have a family to think about and feed, I need job security.
TNA: Oh we can give you security, here, just sign his huge contract.
AJ: Can you afford that? Also, you haven't mentioned anything about what changes are going to happen. Something has to change?
TNA: Change? Different?
AJ: Bye
He'll do better and earn more with WWE. Not only that, but he doesn't have to worry about the company going out of business whilst he has a family to look after - not that he'd have a hard job picking up a wrestling gig elsewhere anyway.
TNA/Dixie Carter has such a strange mind-set of why they do things. Remember, Dixie was head of some PR agency before daddy bought her TNA. Yet, she's so fucking stupid she can't make simple decisions without wrecking her companies image, not like it has an identity in popular culture anyway.

They would have been better off just not saying anything and leaving it be. This makes them look like the jealous ex

No contract was ever finalized nor signed by the parties.
That I would need to be involved in the contract process was known by TNA prior to my involvement and understood by them.
TNA and its 1st lawyer did not present in a timely fashion a contract that accurately reflected previous discussions at all. That created great concern tied to past experiences. In that time and prior there was other interest and there were other firm offers on the table and other discussions.
TNA was aware of other interest and various conflicts. TNA was aware a final contract was required. It was creating that contract and controlled that timetable. Too much time passed early on. Other things came into play. No contract was ever finalized with TNA.
To suggest I make any decision for my clients is to misunderstand my role and diminish the role each talent has in making their own decisions, and insults the talent in the process.
AJ's statement in full. "That created great concern tied to past experiences." - one sentence alone says a lot.
That's AJ's agent Bill Behrens speaking. He wasn't present at the first meeting where the "agreement" was made. If you're going to a meeting where you're signing a legally binding contract, the first person you would need there is your agent to negotiate it.
Also if AJ has signed a legal contract then so has Karl Anderson & Luke Gallows. Yet Karl Anderson's contract for NJPW doesn't expire until the end of January.

TNA originally attempted to sign AJ Styles to return to the company for their Impact Wrestling debut on Pop TV earlier this month. That obviously never happened as Styles never appeared on the show and is rumored to be WWE debut in the next week.
With Styles' WWE debut rumored for one of the next few shows the promotion will be putting on in Florida, and fellow former New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) talents Karl Anderson, Doc Gallows and Shinsuke Nakamura set to debut with WWE in the near future as well, TNA revisited their negotiations with Styles, Gallows and Anderson in a new article published on their official website on Friday.
ImpactWrestling.com, the official website of TNA, posted the following claiming Styles, Gallows and Anderson had signed with the promotion, only to back out of the deal at the last minute.
Then AJ's crew responded
In response to the statement just issued by TNA regarding negotiations with AJ Styles and other former NJPW stars, WZ was issued the following by Styles’ management

Sounds pretty petty on TNA's part. To post that on their website, not that anyone views it, to try and drag him through the mud. Can't really fault the guy for not wanting to go back to TNA when so many wrestlers have signed with the WWE and have done well for themselves in NXT. If Impact Wrestling needed anything though, it was AJ Styles, breath of fresh air.
