The Blue Print

Today at 4w I got to interview another NSA Wrestling wrestler. This time around it was the "Blue Eyed Butcher" Brody Adams.

4W forums here with "Blue Eyed Butcher" Brody Adams, thank you for taking the time to speak with us. Why don't you start off by telling us a bit about your background?

I started wrestling in 2005 but hit a snag a year later. Took a hiatus but started again 2012. Been going strong since then.

So you've been doing this quite a while now. Where did you get started with your training?

In Washington but that was rather basic. What I do in the ring now has been developed up here in Alaska.

Who trained you? Anyone that our members might have heard of?

Most likely not. They didn't go to the 'big leagues' but I wouldn't take anything away from them. Alaska is slowly making waves and it's due to the training of the guys up here. Jaye Holt and Rob Molloy are part of the reason why wrestling hasn't died up here. A few years ago, the scene was in bad shape but our trainers have helped us put on better shows and helped us raise the bar.

A few of the guys have been telling me about the training they have gotten up there is pretty solid. So tell us about your character. Whats your gimmick and wrestling style? I love the name by the way.

My gimmick is somewhat still in development. I was targeting people for sins they've committed. But that's gone off track now after I formed an alliance with Jack Windsor. We're currently a tag team known as Nasty Gentlemen. Our styles are rather similar. Both big guys that are light on their feet. I can adapt to my opponents. Usually, I outweigh them so I use strength but I can get very technical. I love submissions so on occasion I will lock my opponent in a submission. Not to beat them but just to watch them scream.

So are you the most experienced wrestler in NSA Wrestling?

No. That'd be Max Steele.

I don't think I've gotten to talk to him yet. What would you say is your best match to date that you have had?

It was the finals of a tournament to crown the first ever NFWA Champion in 2014. I fought Calvin James. We brawler all over the venue. Threw each into walls. Kicked the crap out of each other. And I debuted a new finisher that night and became the champion.

I take it NFWA is another fed there in Alaska? Also what was the finisher that you decided to debut?

Yes. It closed its doors in July of last year. The move is a scoop inverted DDT called Bloody Acres.

Bloody Acres, I like it. So you've been doing this for a pretty good amount of time now. What would you say some of your goals in this business are?

Just help Alaska wrestling grow. I've ventured out of Alaska a few times to wrestle but my home is up here. So I plan on just helping grow the scene up here and stay at the top of that scene.

Its cool that NSA has wrestlers that are so committed to making it as great as possible. Who are some of your influences that made you start wrestling?

I can't narrow it down because I've watched wrestling for so long. I'm mostly inspired by people with a similar style to my own. Big guys who weren't afraid to move. Undertaker. Vader. Yokozuna. Sheamus. Also, some of the older high flyers. HBK. Sean Waltman. Macho Man. Nowadays, I look to guys like Chris Hero, Kevin Owens, Brian Cage. Big guys who are light on their feet.

We all know some pretty brutal things can happen inside the squared circle, what is the most painful thing you have had to endure?

Getting chopped by Edzel Mendoza. My promoter thought I was getting too cocky so he brought in this guy to 'humble' me. It felt like getting punched in the heart. My chest was purple for a week. I stood my ground though. Match ended in a no contest.

The other happened right before a match. I jumped down off the apron when my opponent entered and landed wrong. Not sure what damage I did but it hurt to walk and the match hadn't even started. I told my partner and then just pumped myself up and did the match. The next weekend, I couldn't even train.

That sounds pretty brutal! Do you watch a lot of wrestling on TV still? If you do what are your current thoughts on the product?

I watch what I can. I dig Lucha Underground as far as TV goes. They're like the old ECW. It's groundbreaking entertainment mixed with crazy athleticism. Definitely good things going on over there. One company that deserves a shoutout but isn't on TV is Hoodslam. They're on YouTube though. They're a 21+ company that is filled with talent. I like the current overall product. There's something for everyone. If you don't like WWE because it's PG, loon the independents for better stuff. Like Hoodslam. If you think it's too violent, look for Chikara that has more comedic entertainment.

I will be looking up Hoodslam here very shortly. How much do you think someone can learn by just watching wrestling?

You can learn the basics and figure out what styles you like best. Which, in turn, can inspire you when decide to wrestle. You can learn a lot but you can't learn everything. You need to train and harness your strengths instead of thinking you know everything just by watching. If that were the case, there'd be a lot of scary pilots.

What is your choice of entrance music and why?

https://youtu.be/Ho0Z0TAoXiM

That's my music. That's a remix of 'Counting Bodies' by A Perfect Circle. The beginning is the alarm from The Purge movies. It strikes confusion and fear in most of my opponents. And it just seems dark and ominous. It puts them into an a nightmare but they're fully awake. And I'm there to help them go back to sleep.

That storm warning tone at the beginning always freaks me out. Even when it comes on the radio when a severe storm warning is being broadcasted! So just a few more questions before we let you go. What do you see sets NSA Wrestling apart from the rest of the countries promotions?

Instead of paying hundreds of dollars to bring up established talent, we try to bring up names of young lions like most of our roster. Names that are making waves in their local scene in big ways. We've brought guys from Utah and Texas so far. There's whispers of people from Vegas and California coming up. On top of helping spread the word of other talent, they spread the word of our talent. We have built our roster from the ground up and now we're showing it on a larger scale. Our location has us more isolated so we have to try harder to get out there which has helped develop somewhat an old school mentality. While we bring up other people, our locals are the backbone. Hope I didn't get too long winded or confusing.

Nope, perfect response. Get as detailed as you want. I haven't really asked to much about the promotion itself I realize. How often do you guys hold shows?

Started last October. We do 3 shows then take a break. It's worked well so far. Gives the fans a break since our roster is small and still growing.

So before we wrap things up here, what would you say your favorite match is that you have ever watched?

Oh man. That's tough. Can I name more than one?

Yep. Go right ahead

Roddy Piper vs Bret Hart for the IC Title is a great one. I loved the ending. Had never seen that sort of ending before then. Kurt Angle vs Brock Lesnar at WM was really incredible. Cesaro vs Sami Zayn in NXT in one that sticks out. Oh man. It's hard to narrow down but those 3 are near the top of the list.

I know what you mean! Well before I let you go, is there anything else that you would like to add that I may have missed or not covered?

Check out NSA Wrestling on Facebook. Also Brody Adams. Our next show is June 19th and it's called Chain Reaction. Features a Chain Match between Burt Ringo and El Magnifico. And you'll also see Nasty Gentlemen in action. NSA Wrestling is the only consistent wrestling in the state of Alaska. You can check out some of Brody Adams' destruction on our Facebook page.

My first thought is that I wouldn't want to the guy taking a top rope elbow drop from the Blue Eyed Butcher. I don't think I'd have many ribs left.

Never heard of Hoodslam, but will check them out. Could be interesting.

I loved the "getting humbled" part. That sounds nasty, can only imagine how much that hurt to have left a bruise on your chest. You'd surely be feeling it with every breath until it's healed.

It's a 2nd Rope Elbow unofficially named 'Brody Smash'. I just get lots of air so it appears that I'm coming off the top.

The humbling failed. I actually earned respect from the same opponent when we fought last August.

Glad you guys like the interview. Check out NSA Wrestling on Facebook to see some hard-hitting footage.

Admin and 4CW Head Booker

Good to see you joining the board, Butcher! As far as I know, you are the first wrestler from NSA to do so. Welcome to the boards!
