As TNA is potentially becoming non-existent / evolving into something else. I'm catching up to see what these end shows look like. So this is what this weeks Impact was like, 27th October.

Show starts with a vignette from the Hardy compound promoting the "Treat or Delete" match tonight. Jeff Hardy is eating raw corn and Matt Hardy is still crazy.

Action from the Impact Zone begins with EC3 teaming with Jessie Godderz vs. Eli Drake & Aron Rex. Robbie E and the gorgeous Brazilian valet have disappeared so Jessie is now with Carter. Rex comes out to no crowd reaction and doesn't even bother with the Impact T-Shirt he usually has on. Fairly standard tag match for 2 thrown together teams. They did well for what they are given but it was like watching wrestling from 20 years ago. Jessie has become an opportunist poaching former TNA alumnus' moves. First he did the Angle Slam then he did the Phenomenal forearm. The finish came when Aron Rex hit Godderz with a punch and he had something taped to his fingers.

Back to the Hardy's who are giving green beans to the trick or treaters as an alternative to sweets. Jeff Hardy is singing to them.

Grado's out and he calls Robbie E out. Grado disappears & then comes back out as Robbie E for Halloween wearing his gear and oiled up. They both go to the ring and do the Bro-Mans shtick. Grado looked like that Big Dick Johnson guy who came out for comedic value in WWE. 3 guys in black suits and scream masks come out and destroy the pair. Will we ever find out who they are?

Next up is a Team X Gold match. Basically a 6 man tag. It's DJ Z, Mandrews & Braxton Sutter who go by the name "Go For Broke." They even have a flag which is supposed to be the trophy. Spud comes out and announces the rest of his team and its Decay. Abyss & Crazy Steve. Fairly basic match. Everyone had a turn in the ring and that was it. I don't think it went longer than 5 minutes. Whatever a Team X Gold match is supposed to be, it didn't seem to be working. Crowd was not into it all. Spud who was hiding behind the others, finally got into the ring and then he was hit with the ZDT to cost them the match.

Contract signing for the Eddie Edwards, Bobby Lashley World Title rematch. Prediction: table gets flipped and there is a scuffle. Lashley is still boring, Edwards isn't a very good talker. Prediction was half true. No contact clause issued by JB.

Back to the Hardy's and its The Hurricane at the door. He gets the door slammed in his face because he's too old. Jeff Hardy goes off to put on his costume and come back as fuck knows what. Then he gets a strimmer and starts making patterns in the grass to create a giant message.

Here comes new knockout Laurel Van Ness versus Allie. Allie is supposed to be Maria's downtrodden assistant who wants to wrestle. This was a 5 minute squash match with a glimmer of hope for Allie that came unrewarded when Van Ness did the curb stomp finisher.

Back to the Hardy compound. Its Donald Trump & Hilary Clinton at the door. Senor Benjamin tases Trump and they ask Clinton what happened to all of her emails. They respond Delete, Delete, Delete.

An infomercial appears for someone called The Fixer. This was basically a rip-off of Lucha Undergrounds, Famous B adverts.

Last bit at the Hardy's. A trick or treater hands over a tablet with a video from DCC (men in suits with scream masks) challenging the Hardy's to a match next week.

Main event time. An intergender tag match. Cody & Brandi Rhodes vs. Mike Bennett & Maria. Bennett looks weird, pink body and mustard tights isn't catching on. Compared to Cody who looks like a polished TV performer. The story of the match was Bennett keeping Cody down so Maria didn't have to come in. This was going well until Maria accidentally kicked Bennett in the nuts. Brandi came in, did a few moves awkwardly, hit a flatliner and some weird submission that looked like she was scissoring with Maria and they won. It looks like one of the caveats to Cody being in TNA is that his wife gets to wrestle and get TV experience.

All of the taped content is getting thinner so TNA are extending recap clips to 2-3 minutes long for each section. I think with the amount of taped content left, they must have enough for 3 more shows.

I read they taped shows or at least have money to tape show thru the rest of the year.

Also, side note: that Big Dick Johnson guy you mentioned....lead writer on Lucha Underground. Chris DeJoseph.

The Blue Print

I thought the treat or delete segments were pretty funny.

None if the matches really stood out. But yeah it's kind of exciting to see Cody in TNA.

This is the first show I've watched in a while. But I heard Corgan lost in court today. Wonder what that means for TNA.

The tag team X gold stuff is so random. But if we get good matches out of it I guess I don't care

Another show this week. What a trek.

Show starts with Brandi Rhodes talking about Cody getting beaten up by Lashley last week. Maria & Sienna come out and offer her a spot in their group. Brandi cuts a kind of heel promo saying she's a Rhodes and that name means something and demands respect. She's had one match and now thinks she's the second coming of Dusty. Brandi declines the offer then tries to beat up the ladies but they get the advantage. Sienna has got something about her that can work. Might be the Damian Demento headdress she wears.

Jessie Godderz vs. Aron Rex for the Grand Championship. Rex has a towel this week for his entrance. This storyline is billed around Rex cheating because he has two rings on his fingers which are disguised with tape and can deliver a KO punch. This could be quashed if the referee did his job of checking for foreign objects before the match starts. This is after all supposed to a pure wrestling division.

The first round in the match goes to Jessie because he did a dropkick. The second round Rex tries to be aggressive but Jessie keeps countering with pins. Jessie wins round 2. Rex starts the round with an eye rake, Jessie can't see as the referee watches. Rex again rakes the eyes as the referee stands there watching him. Surely that's an illegal move. Jessie still can't see so Rex delivers the KO punch and wins. This is stupid.

Team X Gold, Triple Threat Elimination bullshit up next. What are the rules here? No-one knows but they will be heavily enforced as the Pope keeps repeating. Another dud gimmick from TNA. So it's, Team Go For Broke vs. Spud & The Decay vs. Trevor Lee, Andrew Everett & Marshe Rocket. Each team is allowed one member in at each time. It's a clusterfuck (with rules) match. At one point, Abyss & Rocket are trading punches, Rocket is not bumping for him, even when they both trade shoulderblocks Rocket is still on his feet. Then Mandrews who's like 170lbs does a springboard dropkick, a leg on each of them and they both take a bump for it. Fucking psychology is non existent.

The match ends when there's a big melee. Abyss is still legal for his team. Crazy Steve is lingering about. Abyss chokeslams Steve onto Everett. Steve was in the ring for too long so he gets ejected from the match but then so does Abyss for doing nothing wrong. But Spud is still in the match for his team. Josh Matthews (idiot) says this is a great call but never explains why. So this is an elimination style match. Braxton Sutter comes in does a Flatliner on Spud and they win the match. So this is not an elimination style match. The third team played no part and didn't get eliminated. Thank god the rules are heavily enforced, it's a shame they're not fucking explained. Two dud matches in a row.

Tag Title match next. The Hardy's vs. DCC. A brawl ensues before the match starts, then there's kind of a match. Before Earl Hebner throws the match out because the 3rd masked man interferes. The brawl continues backstage with cinematic soundtrack. One of the masked men gets thrown into a portacabin, and Ron (might have been Don) Harris makes a cameo looking out of the window. Grado is doing an interview backstage when Jeff Hardy & a masked man come brawling past. Jeff stops for a selfie with Grado. Jeff gets hits in the nuts. So Matt throws a bucket of "lake of reincarnation water" over Brother Nero who then turns into suited Jeff Hardy with bespoke title. He hits the masked man with the belt, then lights and smokes a cigarette, before putting it out on the masked mans forehead. Matt is fighting with one of them on a pallet on top of a forklift. Whilst Jeff has been put in a big flight case. Not for long though, he jumps out, back as Brother Nero, shouting "Jack in the box". Matt takes off the mans mask but there is another underneath and he then gets pushed off the top of the forklift. Jeff comes over and asks if he's ok. Matt says yes, but who are you?! Another crazy tongue in cheek Hardy segment.

Talk time between Eli Drake & EC3. After a lot of smack talk, Drake swerves a match with EC3 & cashes in his title shot for next week.

World title rematch time, Lashley vs. Eddie Edwards. Lashley pretty much dominates throughout the whole of the match. Edwards is getting little flurries before starting to build momentum. Action goes back and forth, Edwards goes for a top rope stomp, misses rolls through. He charges at Lashley who pulls the referee in the way and he gets squashed. Lashley takes the advantage and hits the Spear. He only gets a 2 count from the new referee so beats him up. The downed referee gets back into the ring with the title belt, (like that's normal) gesticulating at Lashley which turns into an argument. Lashley turns around and gets hit by Edwards' "Boston Knee Party" finisher. Referee then does the fastest 3 count you will ever see. Load of rubbish.

Way too much dumb shit on this show. Gimmick matches that are trying to reinvent the wheel and making it square. Pope & Josh Matthews are the worst commentary team for a long time. They never explain what's happening or why. There's a communication breakdown between who's coming up with the ideas and feeding the concepts over to the announcers. And this will only get worse. In January for the next tapings they will begin taping in 3 month blocks. If something is shit one week, they can't change it the next, it's already taped and will air whatever.

Holy shit, taping in 3 month blocks? That's awful. Costs will be down, but that's just ridiculous. Ratings drop, so what do you do? There's nothing you can do if it's already filmed for the next few months without retaping everything quickly - and that's about as likely to happen as TNA turning a profit.

Brandi banging on about being a Rhodes makes me laugh. You're married into the name love, doesn't make you any good or actually mean anything.

The Grand Championship is just shit as well. Just not the kind of thing that will bring in new fans, especially when they watch it and wonder why they bothered.

Brandi's role now has been relegated to a quick chat with Allie about joining up with her. No Cody who I guess is now done.

Lots of funny segments with the Hardy's and Matt now thinking he's a builder. They were trying to jog his memory who he is but it didn't go down well. When they played his theme tune to him, at the end he blankly said "isn't it ironic..."

There was a decent main event between Eli Drake & Eddie Edwards. Drake is pretty strong, lot of Goldberg esque power moves. Edwards retained his title. At the end, the DCC came out and beat him up. They unmasked, revealing themselves to be Eddie Kingston, Bram & James Storm.

Aron Rex has raided Gangrel's wardrobe. What the fuck is he wearing. A very terrible chase with a slow moving car also occurred.

Aeqcxi4.jpg

Moose & Mike Bennett also had a match, I think Moose won.

Show starts with Eddie Edwards coming out to cut a promo. He's slavering all over his words, one long droning tone, repeating the same thing over again. DCC comes out with a new, terrible country infused nu-metal, rap hybrid of an entrance theme. They beat him down, Jeff Hardy makes the save. Then go to get a tag match set up for later on.

The everlong feud between Aron Rex & Jessie Godderz continues. This week it's a regular match, no title on the line. Match failed to hold my attention, Godderz wins. Why is even still going? I don't think there is even going to be a pay-off. I'm sure I read Moose (whose rarely seen) wins the belt in a few weeks anyway.

Video clip plays of Gail Kim saying she's too injured to wrestle so will vacate the knockouts title.

Next up is Maria's Lady Squad vs. Brandi Rhodes. Maria who looks like she's wearing her underwear and leopard print wellington boots isn't in the match. It's Laurel Van Ness & Damian Demento's sister, Sienna. Brandi has a partner and out comes Madison Rayne to join her. Brandi starts the match, then runs after Maria who's on the outside. They both end up in the ring then Brandi tags out. Madison comes in and is essentially the whipping girl who gets doubled team throughout the match. Brandi comes in and she's has the temperament of an octopus rollerskating on marbles. At one point she hits this big knee thing. Sienna was selling it expecting Brandi to pin her but Brandi is poised to do something but not sure what. Sienna comes back to hit her finisher but Brandi counters to hit her finisher and wins it.

Another funny Matt Hardy home clip. He's deleting his old emails, one of them was a Young Buck's newsletter which Matt unsubscribes from, because he doesn't like rock music.

No.1 Contenders World Title, 4 way match now. Lashley vs. Trevor Lee vs. Mike Bennett vs. EC3. Bennett & Lee were working together isolating EC3 and keeping Lashley outside. When their trust broke down, it turned into a melee, everyone getting their shots in. Lee looked impressive, he managed to hit his mid air spinning slam on Lashley. EC3 who isn't very impressive and only a step above Brandi Rhodes in ability, did this horrible looking TKO on Lee onto his knee then put him in the Coquina Clutch sleeper. Lee tapped out instantly. Never understood why punch, kick, stomp style wrestlers start doing submission moves and expect to be seen as technical wrestlers.

Back to the Hardy's. Matt is shown the final deletion match and is aghast at what he was doing.

Eli Drake, Fact of Life talk segment complete with canned laughing, cheering, clapping. EC3 is back out, Drake offers him a match for his no.1 contenders shot. EC3 says if Drake wants the title shot, he's got to put up his voice. So if he loses he can't speak for the rest of 2016. Drake accepts.

This may be brutal. It's Mahabali Shera vs. Basile Baraka. Baraka looks like he's dressed as a member of The Shield for a fancy dress party. Nothing of note happened, basic match. Shera with a power slam and a Camel Clutch to win it.

The other one, Dax came out and beat up Shera. He had Shera by the throat and threw him down to the floor. Josh Matthews called it "Final Judgement" like it was his finishing move. Weakest one I've seen since Wade Barrett's Wasteland.

Al Snow comes out to save Shera and clear out the Tribunal. Josh Matthew then says "Al Snow is trending worldwide right now" why he say's this or is told to say this is a facepalm moment. Back to the ring, Shera & Snow do the Hogan/Savage handshake. Matthews who's on a roll for saying dumb shit, proclaims "the mega powers come together." Righteo, you can see why WWE got rid of him.

Jade who's been looking for Rosemary, finds her in the rafters. Rosemary who acting all weird and creepy towards Jade, trying to frighten her for their upcoming title match. Jade is no selling it and says "I'm not scared of you." That's handy then. The title match is going to be in a steel cage.

Next up it's the main event. As Jeff Hardy & Eddie Edwards walk through the back, Matthews says they're like a dream team. Yep, you're unbearable.

It looks like this is going to be 3 on 2. Now you're told its no DQ, no countouts. Making it up as they go along, usual TNA. Eddie Kingston, what an odd looking man. Spandex top to keep his gut in check, too short flared bottoms hiding his chicken legs. Fairly uninteresting brawl until two chairs are set up back to back. Edwards reverses a suplex and suplexes Kingston right on the tops of the chairs and his body inverts itself. Even more horrifying, his straps are down and the belly is unleashed. Edwards gets DDT'ed off the apron through a table to the outside. Hardy hits a Twist of Fate on Storm, he goes for a second, Storm counters it into a Last Call Superkick for the win. Shit selling, shit match. Another dud stable from TNA. That would would make a good gimmick. Colonel Robert Parker combines all of the terrible groups TNA have created to form the Dudd Stable.

Won't bother doing anymore of these because TNA is just a non-entity now. The life support machine has been plugged back in for a little while longer. But I'm not sitting at its bedside whilst it's still in a coma.

I'm ok with some things going on...Hardyz...Decay...actually dig EC3, just trying to survive this baby face run hahahaha!  Sandow vs Godderz is tolerable, but I hope for a payoff that you mentioned we may not get regardless of a title. Eli Drake is the best talent there to me right now. I haven't read any spoilers for the future, but I would think they're headed for Davey vs Eddie ROH rehash from 2011 Summer. But not sure
