WWE Crown Jewel
I've just read that they're having the first ever womens match at the event. News I'm torn on.
Why, you might as? Well I'll tell you.
On one hand, I think it's great. Last year was a disgrace that they weren't even allowed to show women, considering they'd put on some fantastic matches and the whole thing was just incredibly sexist. WWE were just looking at the money when really they should have put their foot down and stated that women are a big part of their product so you accept that or there's no deal. So happy that that is sorted.
But then on the other hand, it's Natalya vs Lacey Evans. Not going to be a great match at all. I like Natalya, but Evans it mediocre at best imo. Not sure how she even made it out of NXT. They should have used this opportunity to put two women in the ring who can put on an absolute classic and show Saudi Arabia that the women are more than capable of putting on matches equal (or in the case of Crown Jewel matches, better) standard of the men. Show them that this is why they shouldn't have a problem with having women wrestle in their country.
I know Crown Jewel matches are likely to be shit (I'm basing this on last years, so sue me!), so why give those fans something to complain about with regards to this? They've gotten over one hurdle with getting the match on the card, it'd just be nice afterwards if they could point to a great match and say "this is why you shouldn't have a problem with women wrestling in your country". I know they could do that to a number of womens matches over the past few years, but they're easy for them to ignore. A match right in front of them in a live crowd, not so hard to ignore.
Maybe I'm being harsh. I just think that given how big a moment this is, they should put someone better than Evans in there and make sure that the match smashes it. I'm more pleased that they've actually managed to get the match set up though. It's historical for sure, and Triple H did say a year ago that he was going to make sure that this happened. So I'm mainly glad that they've clearly put their foot down on something and made this happen.
As for the rest of the card, this could go down as yet again being the worst PPV of the year. Only match that could be good is the WWE Universal Championship match, which is really just making up for the shower of shit that was their last match. Still the dumbest and shittest PPV of the year. It's like they want them to regret signing such a long contract for these PPVs.

I don't think this matters one iota. It wouldn't matter if it was Alicia Fox vs Mandy Rose. The fact women are getting a match is the key thing here. This is history.
The whole Saudi show thing is still garbage, but this is a massive step in the right direction. Which women are wrestling is pretty much irrelevant.
Thanks Taker_2004 for the banner!
