I was reading in the Standard that Spurs have been losing more and more British players, the less British players they have the more successful they've been. Which goes to show we need to do something drastic at youth level to really make some of these quality players.
Oh and Chux, Spurs fans think they can win the league every season. Last year they were talking about how they were title contenders and they ended up 5th.

I think Spurs could win the title with that squad, nevermind the top 4. Chelsea and Man City are favourites but I think that with the former being focused on European success and the latter assembling a team rather than a bunch of players, Spurs might sneak in and 'do a Roma 2000/01'.
Oh, and I hear that the final transfer fee for Bale is £78 million, with bonuses paid based on appearances, success and so on. The reason for that is that it keeps Ronaldo's status as the most expensive player ever intact.
I think Spurs will finish 3rd or 4th, the signings they've made have strengthened the squad so much. They could be dark horses for the title, but that's a big could.

Strange twist of fate. Spurs have inadvertently helped out Arsenal, since Ozil wants to jump to Arse now Bale is going to be at Real Madrid. Bit worrying, Ozil is exactly the kind of player who could make Arsenal a lot more dangerous.
City have grabbed Martin Demichelis, who Pellegrini has worked with before. Good move, we need more defenders.
Just saw that Spurs signed three more relatively expensive players on Friday. AVB is a nutter.

Avb is playing football manager... all good players tho so I'm happy to see where it goes.
Ozil is exaxtly the kind of player arse dont need. He ia quality, but no better than carzola and wilshere. Arse need a keeper, centre back, holding midfielder and a striker. Another attacking midfielder shouldnt be on their radar.
Well done to arse yesterday, i was working and didnt see it (recorded it but dont think I'll watch it back somehow...) I'm still veey confident that we'll finish ahead of them in the league.

.
What I as thinking, we have some of the best attacking midfielders in the league and I'd much prefer to see Cazorla playing behind the striker rather than Ozil. I think if she signs for Arsenal then he'll play on the left since we don't really have anyone to play there. I'd prefer a winger, keeper and striker, we got Flamini he's the holding midfielder we've been looking for.

Newcastle have been busy so far this morning... watching every other club trying to sign players. Given up hoping now that we're going to try and strengthen our incredibly thin squad.
Surprised you guys aren't fans of the Ozil move. I agree that a striker would be more help, but really Arsenal just need people who will make chances. They survived pretty well with only RVP up front, so as long as they have Giroud available and enough talent behind him to make a run every so often, I don't see why a load of attacking midfielders in a 4-5-1 couldn't work.

Swansea sign Vazquez on a season long loan
Arsenal close to signing Ozil and had made enquires to Chelsea about Demba Ba who is also linked to a return to Newcastle

Liverpool have brought in 3 players on Deadline day so far...
Ilori and Sakho have signed, leading to speculation that Skrytel despite yesterdays performance could be loaned out.....
Victor Moses has come to Liverpool from Chelsea on a Loan deal as well, giving Rodgers an option for the left hand side
Borini is having a medical for a loan move to Sunderland

I'm actually super excited for Ozil now that it looks like it ill actually happen, he's not exactly what we need but he's a world class player and nothing wrong with strengthening. Arsenal can now boast to have the best midfield in the league, only Chelsea on the same level.

Silva, Toure, Nasri, Fernandinho and Navas would disagree.

Cabaye, Tiote, Ben Arfa, Anita, etc would also disagree 😋

Only Silva and Toure i'd say. Nasri's talent stalled at City, Navas and Fernandinho still have to prove themselves.
Cazorla, Arteta, Wilshere, Ramsey, Flamini, Ozil, Rosicky and Diaby if he's still alive. I could even add Walcott but I'll count him as a forward, that's a lot of talent there.

Paulinho, Sandro, Dembele, Capoue, Eriksen, Lamela, Chadli, Townsend, Lennon, Carroll.
Probably lining up Paulinho and Sandro holding, Eriksen in the number 10 role, Lamela and Chadli on the wings. Or Carroll and Capoue holding, Dembele in the 10 role and Lennon and Townsend on the wings. We are short of a real class left winger, but I'm really happy to put that midfield against any team. If Eriksen and Lamela are playing they will be a handful, and Paulinho and Sandro/Capoue will keep the door closed... I didn't watch the game yesterday (thankfully was working), but I heard we were majorly missing creativity. Those two give us that.
I can see Arse playing the same formation with Arteta and Wilshere holding, Ozil on the number 10, Cazorla and Walcott on the wings. No doubt, a frightening 5 some. And if anyone gets injured then you have Ramsey or Rosicky to come in, who are both top replacements. Flamini is only there to play as Arteta is out and you have no depth for the wide players. Ozil is class, and will be a great signing. Not a signing you really need tho. I'd have looked at Bender at Dortmund (a holding midfielder with a fearsome tackle) for around £30m or Fellaini at £25m. Both players that 'could' push you up to the top 2. I don't think Ozil is that player simply because you have Carzorla already.
Man City have a decent starting five, altho I think both Arse and Spurs are better, but don't really have a lot of quality in depth, which is pretty unforgivable as they have spent so much money.
Giroud is currently proving me wrong by continuing to score (altho I'm still happy that Benteke is showing the goalscoring form I predicted atm...) so you might not need a striker as Pod is class and will score goals when he comes back.
I think you needed to improve your defense tho. Left back and centre back. We're in the same boat tho. Danny Rose isn't a top 5 player, and Dawson should have gone last year (would rather have Caulker than Daws, even tho I love Daws...).
Two and a half hours for all our managers to get it right...
Actually, Arse also have the Ox, who I think will be blinding, so you have decent wing cover when he is back.
Love transfer deadline day. Reports are that Fellaini left training this evening so he might be off to United. Or it could be that it's now gone 8 and he's done for the day so it off to spend the evening with his family.

Benteke is up there with Sturridge and Giroud as top scorers, it's only been a few matches too.
Arsenal need a striker more than anything and a pure winger. We got 2 left backs who are top quality I dunno why people say we need to switch it up and we have Koscielny, Mertesacker and Vermaelen as CBs with Sagna able to cover. Our defence is quite solid bar the mistakes, and we haven't seen a fuck up for a while (or at least one that costs).

A Mystery arrival at Old Trafford....

Arsenal just made the best signing of this window (bar Bale). Ozil is a game changer.

11:00 and still not even a hint of a deal done at Newcastle. Absolute shit. Never replaced Ba when he left and Pardew has made it very clear that he needs another striker to help Cisse out. Kinnear has done fuck all. Really is unbelievable and from what I've heard fans are planning on going nuts around the stadium about it.
Joe Kinnear when he was appointed - "judge me on signings". Oh the fans are Joe, the fans really are.
Man Utd getitng Felllaini for £27.5m and also a Season-Long loan for Fabio Coentrao is pretty good business.

Thanks Taker_2004 for the banner!
I dont think Coentrao went thru.
You take that back! The community shield is the most prestigious trophy in Europe, ahead of the Barclays Asia cup and the Johnstone's Paint trophy.
Spurs will do well again, but that's not saying much since they've been doing well for the last few years. I don't see them being a major threat though, it'll take time for them to settle. When City splashed out they finished third, and that was only because Arsenal slipped up on the last day. Give Spurs a year, and provided they can keep a core of these new players they could well be a threat. Top four...I don't have a hard time believing that. And yeah, if United are ever going to finish outside the top three, this is the year. We can hope.
