Main Event

So this is the first time I have sat and watched a full episode of Impact in a while. Hell fire, we're down to the barebones of a roster. Magnus is out to start, going on about his narrow loss in the BFG series finals, Daniels, Kaz and Roode come out and beat him up. MEM follow and it turns into a brawl and sets up a six man tag main event.

Opening match is Manik vs. Jeff Hardy. Hardy comes out, followed by Chris Sabin who's heeling it up with a straight Velvet Sky. The champ, Manik doesn't even get a ring intro, he's just been teleported into the ring and the match starts. Fairly average bout with Hardy getting the win. Tenay billed it as a 50/50 bout but Manik had little offence and then got beat down by Sabin. Sabin reminds me of Daniel Bryan when he started turning heel with the Napoleon complex.

Next up is ODB vs. Mickie James for her belt. This was a good strong match and with Mickie leaving, she did the job for ODB. Post match EY and Abyss came out to celebrate. Then Robbie E and Jessie came out to trash talk. Completely pointless segment and a waste of time. Robbie & Jessie both got beat in 30 second matches, then attacked Abyss who went mental and beat them both up. This gimmick has been going on forever with no conclusion looming. Pull the fucking trigger and switch him back to Abyss. Then chalk it up as another failed storyline.

What's left of Aces & Eights are now out to the ring. Bully is praising Brooke and the rest are all pissed off. Bully runs off when Mike Knox stands up to him. They will cost him the belt at BFG and hopefully then split. Another wasted opportunity for a promotion defining storyline.

Hulk bumps into Dixie backstage and offers her his help. She declines. 20 seconds of work and Hulk is $35k richer.

Oh dear, here come Chavo & Hernandez. With all of the roster cuts, it's sad to see Chavo has stayed out of the firing line. He probably works for the cost of a burrito to get his Eddie Guerrero tribute act in. GunStorm are coming out next for this non-title tag match. But wait, Chavo says he's hurt so its a singles between Gunner and Hernandez. Gunner's got some untapped talent. Decent on the mic and in the ring. He's got a good look and he's always intense. I didn't get the match itself. GunStorm are the faces, so Hernandez is a heel if Chavo is acting like a coward. But he's doing all of his crowd popping high spots and even clapping to the crowd to get them going. And he's called Super Mex, maybe they should change it to Super Tex if he's goIng to have the state and Texan flag on his tights. Gunner wins but I expect Chavo/Hernandez to win the rubber match.

Main event time and it's the Mafia vs EGO. St. Louis is Mafia Country according to Magnus. Cringeworthy Horsemen impersonation. Why doesn't he say St. Louis is Mafia territory or something. Good 6 man match which went by the standard rules. Sting got beat down for most of the match and then he hot tagged Magnus in for the big brawl. EGO kept cheating like usual and Roode whacked Magnus who was protecting Sting to win the match. Roode does seem like a spare part to Bad Influence. The promotion doesn't need this many factions.

AJ Styles is ready for his big face to face with Dixie. First AJ's got some home truths to get off his chest. Oh no, he hasn't gone for the worked shoot. It's the super worked shoot. He's blasting her for getting rid of Petey, Shelley, Low Ki & Jerry Lynn and bringing in all of the has-been crap. Out comes Dixie and she's sorry......sorry for not slagging him off sooner. SWERVE! This was like a really shit staff appraisal. She was having a go at him for not having any good matches recently and she built the Phenomonal One brand. What brand? This could off been conceivable if TNA had in their history created a single successful gimmick. Dixie threw a poorly acted hissy fit and then told the crew to turn the mics and light off. So the show went off the air with everyone left in the dark. Not the first time in a TNA storyline. This was a CC of Bryan vs. the Corporation over on WWE. Its embarrassing they're nicking this storyline weeks after WWE doing it.

Mid Card

Creative #1: "Let's take what works in WWE and use it here."

Creative #2: "Oh yeah, that's a great idea but we will combine the CM Punk no contract angle with the Daniel Bryan vs. The Corporation angle. It can't fail."

#1: "Ok so who do we use?"

#2: "Dixie has to be in there because she's the owner and no one will see a heel turn coming from her."

#1: "Genius, she's gold on the mic. So maybe we put her against Jeff Hardy."

#2: "Nah, he's too good on the mic and he'll make Dixie look bad."

#1: "You're right. How about we have AJ Styles win the BFG series and then never even acknowledge Bully as the champ and just feud with Dixie. He's awesome on the mic but not so good he will overshadow Dixie. Plus no one will remember that AJ turned on A&E and then later helped the Mafia fire Bully's brother."

#2: "Brilliant!! Then maybe we have Dixie screw AJ at BFG and she could join A&E. She'd look hot in leather."

#1: "Dude, we have just stumbled on storyline gold. This could make our careers. We are the next Russo and Ferrara."

*High five*

That is how I see this storyline being built. It's just so lazy and they are shitting even more on Bully, their champion, by doing this. AJ isn't strong enough on the mic to do the worked shoot promo and the fans of TNA are the worst I've ever seen. They don't react to much of anything and they use WWE chants at a TNA show like they don't realize they are different companies. AJ vs. Bully had a lot of potential. AJ joined A&E then quickly turned on them. He got Devon fired. He wins the BFG series and now has the chance to end A&E, which is what Hogan has been wanting all along, then we have to go with this rehash of WWE storylines. I am all for AJ getting the strap and having a top story but this is not the way to go.

Jek

Can someone summarise to me what's been going on in TNA the last few years? Like I know up to Bubba Ray winning the title off Jeff Hardy but then what? What happened to Aires did they take him out of the main event scene? IS Hardy still there? What about Sabin's title run?

I watched a bit of Impact a few weeks back and the crowd are so dead, they don't even react to AJ Styles who's meant to be the HBK of TNA.

Beefy

LoL Jeff Hardy is too good on the mic and AJ is just right on the mic for Dixie? Seriously? Is Jeff Hardy the Anti Christ of wrestling again and I missed that?

I just have never seen Jeff Hardy as 'Charismatic.' He comes off like a little redneck spot monkey to me. I always thought that his brother was a better wrestler (not that that is saying much), but they both failed massively when it came to talking or having 'the look.' JMO.

Aries was teaming with Roode, then they had a good match in the BFG series and he hasn't been seen since. Sabin had the belt for like two weeks and is now moaning because everything is unfair and no one respects him. Hardy's on the shows but is going nowhere.

Their biggest PPV of the year is a month away and they've only got one match booked. Their hall of fame inductee is in rehab too. I can see GunStorm vs. Hernandez & Chavo and Sabin vs. Manik being booked. EGO vs. MEM vs. The Bums of Anarchy in a 3 way tag, losers must disband match, would be a good idea with so many factions. Then you could start a clean slate for the next year.

I'm with you up until the three way. They've made a really quick turn around here, splitting the MEM off from the Aces and putting them with EGO. I guess that'll be a six man tag. Then Bully has Styles, leaving the other Aces to run interference or whatever. I hear that if they can get Anderson back they want to use him with Bully, but I'm thinking if they do get him he'll have to go through Knux first to leave the title match on.
