Battle of the Bands 44
It's December. Santa is on his way. With endless hordes of white walkers in his thrall, ready to descend from the frozen north...
That is how that story goes, right? I mean, the Night's King = Santa Claus is basically canon at this point, yeah?

Ho, ho, ho! It's Battle of the Bands! At BotB 43, Rammstein defeated Coldplay in a 5-3 victory. Coldplay mounted a comeback late in the game, but our friendly, neighborhood fire-loving lunatics ultimately burned away the hugely successful Brits' hopes for glory. Or would have... if any member of Coldplay were aware of BotB. And cared... for some reason. (*coughing / crickets chirping*)
When you vote, please request a musical act for the challenger list. Each act will be added to the list in the order they are requested. (Only one request at a time per person, please.) Battles will be usually be posted on Mondays, with the voting period lasting for about one week. I will try to post a heads-up as voting nears an end. When a band loses, it will be unable to re-challenge for 10 rounds. If an act achieves 10 straight victories, they will be retired from champion status and the next two challengers in the request list will duke it out for supremacy!
Note: The term "musical act" denotes any band, solo artist, vocal group... whatever you like. Basically, this is an all-inclusive popularity contest.
Voters are encouraged to include their opinions of the bands/artists in the battle, or at least a few short words about the act they voted for. Not a requirement, of course!
Nach Afrika kommt Santa Claus / Und vor Paris steht Micky Maus!
English translation: "Santa Claus is coming to Africa / And Mickey Mouse is standing in front of Paris!"
(This is the only snippet of Rammstein's lyrics with something vaguely Xmas-y in it, as far as I know.)

The champion...
Rammstein
Rammstein is a German industrial metal band, formed in 1994 in Berlin. Throughout its existence, Rammstein's six-man lineup has remained unchanged—lead guitarist Richard Z. Kruspe, bassist Oliver "Ollie" Riedel, drummer Christoph "Doom" Schneider, lead vocalist Till Lindemann, rhythm guitarist Paul H. Landers, and keyboardist Christian "Flake" Lorenz.
The band helped to found a subgenre within German hard rock and metal that became known as Neue Deutsche Härte. The majority of their songs are in German, but they have also performed songs entirely or partially in other languages including English, Spanish, French, and Russian. Rammstein's award-winning live shows are known for their pyrotechnic elements and both on and off-stage theatrics. Rammstein's entire catalogue is published by Universal Music Group.
ince their formation in 1994, Rammstein has had no changes in their line-up. Richard Kruspe had said in a Revolver Magazine interview that it is because of the band respecting each other's wishes to take a break; either for personal reasons or to focus on a side project.
Rammstein have achieved particular fame for their over-the-top stage show, making such extensive use of pyrotechnics that fans eventually coined the motto "Other bands play, Rammstein burns!" (a quip at Manowar's song "Kings of Metal", which states, "other bands play, Manowar kills"). Following an accident at the Arena in Berlin in which some burning decorative parts fell (27 September 1996) the band started using professionals to handle the pyrotechnics. Lindemann subsequently qualified as a licensed pyrotechnician; he spends entire songs engulfed head-to-toe in flames. He has suffered multiple burns on his ears, head and arms.

Foreigner
Foreigner is an English-American rock band, originally formed in New York City in 1976 by veteran English musician Mick Jones and fellow Briton and ex-King Crimson member Ian McDonald along with American vocalist Lou Gramm.
Jones came up with the band's name as he, McDonald and Dennis Elliott were British, while Gramm, Al Greenwood and Ed Gagliardi were American. Their biggest hit single, "I Want to Know What Love Is", topped the United Kingdom and United States charts among others. They are one of the world's best-selling bands of all time with worldwide sales of more than 80 million records, including 37.5 million records in the US.

Admin and 4CW Head Booker · 5,095 commentsI listen to Rammstein more often, so they get my vote. Bit of a pre-show battle though. Meh.
Thanks Taker_2004 for the banner!

Yeah, unfortunately I only really know one song from this band, and although I know they've had a wonderful and successful career, I'm still gonna vote Rammstein.

The Moon Maiden · 654 commentsMy vote goes to Rammstein. Foreigner have some decent songs, but grate on me after a short while. A lot of radio-friendly classic rock does, come to think.
