Is this the film where they build giant robots to fight aliens? If it is, then this one hasn't appealed to me...
Transformers rip off?

No, it's transformers vs godzillas. And YES, it will be really bad, but, it is a 'turn off your brain' movie... like the rundown.
Also, Idris Ilba is up to be the first black james bond... even with his porn stache. He da man.
They won't do a black James Bond. They'd be making him black just for the sake of appeasing some people. I know they've strayed from the books a lot, but the guy's white. I just don't get why people need to change things like that.
Saying that, I do like Idris Ilba. And the film won't be bad, it's going to be great in a fun way.
oh, yeah, he'll never get it, but he's one of the candidates. The main bond audience is white, and they'd never accept a black JB.

I dont think its about not accepting a black jb. Its about the simple fact that jb is white. The only reason he's shortlisted is because he's black.
He's a class actor, and Im currently watching him in luther, but he wont be jb.
JB is white in the same way that he isnt a woman.
Nick Fury was white for 70 years
Starbuck was a dude b4 the reboot.
and Boomer was black... and got turned into an asian girl
Ive never heard of those people...
Ha. Battlestar Galactica. The 70s version had Starbuck played by the guy from the A-Team. 70s boomer from Battlestar was a black guy... in the new one, they were both women.
James Bond is white, though. It would be like turning Harry Potter black or turning Luke Skywalker black. It just doesn't make sense.

Thanks Taker_2004 for the banner!

Fair point then. And if Bond doesnt have a film out for 40 years then I'm sure he can be brought back as a black woman (my girl could play bond!! I'll let her know...)
As it is, would the original battlestar galactica have ended season 4 (or whatever) with face from the a team and started season 5 with Diana Ross in his role? And how would u, as an obvious fan, have reacted to that?
This would be having a black bond just so we can say how liberal we are, and thats wrong. Its almost as bad as having a female Dr Who!
Sam Mendes has apparently done a U turn though and agreed to do another Bond movie which would mean Daniel Craig will return with Mendes...
Don't get me started on a female Dr Who..
Its liberal craziness, political correctness, gone totally stupid..

To be fair, I'd take a black Bond over another Daniel Craig snoozefest.

I don't care if he's black or white or asian or green (gamma-induced american)... as long as the best actor wins the roll.
Example... Haden Christianson... was he the best choice for Darth Vader? Or was he a good looking white kid.
I heard this 'it's political correctness gone mad' all the time when it's about changing the skin colour of a character even though they've had different hair, different eye colour, height and weight. But no one says anything about a white guy playing a character of an ethic background. Brad Pitt could play Malcolm X and none of you would say anything.

Of course people would complain at that. You can't have a white guy playing Malcolm X, that'd be stupid.
Don't take that last part seriously.

Its far less of a leap to see James Bond as slightly taller, or with blue eyes instead of grey eyes, or weighing 20lbs more than he did previously, or having black hair rather than brown hair rather than changing his whole ethnic background.
If Dr Who was black it wouldn't bother me, because he regenerates. There is a viable reason for a change. But James Bond is a white guy. If they were going to change his ethnicity then they should have done it after Brosnan as there was a few years between films. If they do it after Daniel Craig then they need to not make a film for 5-7 years so they are making the film for a different age group (just like they apparently did with Starbuck from the old Battlestar Gallactica).
Would Elba do a good job? Yes, I think he would. Would people buy into it? I don't think so. Therefore, he wouldn't be the best person for the job.
The only reason he's ever been linked to the role is so the producers can say they are looking for the best person for the role. So, if that is true, then why aren't they also linking women to the role?

If James Bond was a woman she'd be a slag.

Saw this last night and it really is awesome. A really fun film to watch. Even my girlfriend and her sister enjoyed it.
Just saw it last night. It was WAY better than expected. It was actually... good. I am now deaf, tho.
I would watch this but I hate the Transformers films cos they are too big with the transformers fighting eachother it gave me a head ache. This looks like the same thing, is it as bad as transformer or are the fight scenes a really big mess.

The fight scenes are on the same page as transformers, it is kinda hard to tell what was going on, but it was a fun movie. If you do go see it, try not to think too much during the movie. It is a great no-brain movie. Its got some cheese to it, and some predictable outcomes, but it is a fun don't think movie.
Going to go see it Saturday.
I only get 'free' to see a movie with the guys once in a blue moon. We all know that its gonna be dumb, but, we're turning off or brains and enjoying the guy-ness of the movie.
Also, we will have a lot of beers before we go in.
