Chat boxes are cool, have lobbied for one for a long time, some people always seem to find a way to make it not happen though! It wouldn't hurt at all.

Oh and does this forum count everything towards a post count? Like PMs and stuff. Cuz like, I don't think Hilds has 307 posts already. Just seems odd.

Pfft, I'm godlike.  And if it counted my PM's I'd be pretty close to 400 now...  I've got quite a few posts in the 4CW bookers area, maybe 100 or so. 

Proud to say that not many are spam (maybe 15-20, but I don't think more than that).

PM's don't count towards post counts.

If I spend too long on a post it times out and logs me out.  I think I am set to always be logged in and wondered if this is a board setting?  No big deal as the post is still there when I press the back key, just a bit annoying.

There's a timeout function set when writing a post. It's a security feature built to stop attackers successfully taking over your session and using it for nefarious purposes - it's an inwards link to my database so needs some kind of security. If you don't show activity during that time then it closes the link - and writing a post doesn't count as activity as it can't read what you write in text areas.

Best thing you can do when writing a long post is to occasionally hit the preview button. This shows activity and won't log you out.

I came on here yesterday but didn't read all of the new posts, then when I came back all the new post markers were cleared. That sucks. Any way to keep them active until they're read, even across two sessions?

You would be able to just go to the 'Active' link at top though in the meantime but I had the same happen to me before aswell

This has also happened to me.

Yeah, I'm aware of that. It's because the unread posts marker is set by a cookie, and so when come on it pulls in posts since your last visit. When you leave 4w, it resets the cookie for next time you come to 4w.

The guys that make the forum platform have been looking at ways to do this so that it's better than the current method, without making the database ridiculously huge. They're expecting to have something ready for the next release. I'll see if I can come up with something though.

What other colours are you looking for? Only reason I selected a few was to match the look and size of the bbcode toolbar I did. I can easily add a second or third row if people like, just got to let me know what colours you'd want to be included.

No specific colours in mind, just anther line or so of new colours would be helpful...

Not sure if it's span bots or people sad enough to sign up manually to do it. I intend to find out though, but unfortunately if it is people being sad enough to sign up just to spam for links to their site, then there's not much I can do about it.

Might make all outbound links from this site as NO FOLLOW, so then linking as spam is pointless as Google won't pick up on them.

And I've had less than 20 spam posts!  Go back and count them...  Everything I write is important to the lives of all the 4wers...  In 2000 years time people will worship what I write here as gospel...

A friend of mine is trying to sign up, but can't.  This is the FB message he just sent me-

"I tried to sign up just now for the forums and it won't let me I entered a screen name in and it keeps asking for a Username I thought it might be because of the name that I chose (Hilds_Hero) but then I tried another one and still it keeps asking for a user name"

He's pretty dim (hence why he's a mate of mine, I only talk to dim people so I seem smarter.  See Belly for more evidence of that) so he might be doing it wrong, but we don't want it to be too difficult to sign up or we wont get people!

Fuck, I probably have a typo somewhere which is blocking that field. I can't do anything till I get home from work. I didn't get the chance to test it so that's my bad.

Okay, back to the previous registration page until I can work out what went wrong with the new one - bit more than a typo as I corrected that and it still hates the username field, so got to look into it.

New users can sign up in the mean time though.

Can we send pm's to multiple people?  I'm sending a message to Benji and chuckles, but it looks like I have to send them individually.  Would be easier to send to multiple
