Battle of the Bands 33
Hello, fellow 4W faithfuls! Welcome to the revived Battle of the Bands! Each week, two musical acts (see note) will compete for your votes to become the BotB champion!
When you vote, remember to request a musical act for the challenger list. Each act will be added to the list in the order they are requested. (Only one request at a time per person, please.) Battles will be usually be posted on Mondays, with the voting period lasting for about one week. I will try to post a heads-up as voting nears an end. When a band loses, it will be unable to re-challenge for 10 rounds. For the sake of variety, I'm adding the stipulation that if an act achieves 10 straight victories, they will be retired from champion status and the next two challengers in the request list will duke it out for supremacy!
Note: The term "musical act" denotes any band, solo artist, vocal group... whatever you like. Basically, this is an all-inclusive popularity contest.
Voters are encouraged to include their opinions of the bands/artists in the battle, or at least a few short words about the act they voted for. Not a requirement, of course.
Let's get ready to DRUMBLE!

Nirvana was an American rock band formed by singer and guitarist Kurt Cobain and bassist Krist Novoselic in Aberdeen, Washington, in 1987. Nirvana went through a succession of drummers, the longest-lasting being Dave Grohl, who joined in 1990. Despite releasing only three full-length studio albums in their seven-year career, Nirvana has come to be regarded as one of the most influential and important alternative bands in history. Though the band dissolved in 1994 after the suicide of Cobain, their music maintains a popular following and continues to influence modern rock and roll culture.
In the late 1980s, Nirvana established itself as part of the Seattle grunge scene, releasing its first album, Bleach, for the independent record label Sub Pop in 1989. They developed a sound that relied on dynamic contrasts, often between quiet verses and loud, heavy choruses. After signing to major label DGC Records, Nirvana found unexpected success with "Smells Like Teen Spirit", the first single from the band's second album Nevermind (1991). Nirvana's sudden success widely popularized alternative rock, and Cobain found himself referred to in the media as the "spokesman of a generation", with Nirvana considered the "flagship band" of Generation X. Nirvana's third studio album, In Utero (1993), released to critical acclaim, featured an abrasive, less mainstream sound and challenged the group's audience.
Nirvana's active career ended following the death of Cobain in 1994, but various posthumous releases have been issued since, overseen by Novoselic, Grohl, and Cobain's widow Courtney Love. Since its debut, the band has sold over 25 million records in the United States alone, and over 75 million records worldwide, making them one of the best-selling bands of all time. Nirvana was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2014, in its first year of eligibility.
Versus...

The Brian Jonestown Massacre
The Brian Jonestown Massacre is an American musical outfit led by frontman Anton Newcombe. It was formed in San Francisco in 1990.
The Brian Jonestown Massacre was formed by Newcombe in 1990. Their early music was in a shoegaze style. Following their debut album, Methodrone, the group's sound transitioned to a broader style of psychedelic rock, incorporating styles such as garage rock, folk rock and, later, electronica into their sound. The act continue to experiment with musical styles.
The outfit was the subject of the 2004 documentary film Dig!, and have gained media notoriety for their tumultuous working relationships as well as the erratic behaviour of leader Newcombe.[4] The Brian Jonestown Massacre have released seventeen albums, five compilation albums, five live albums, thirteen EPs, sixteen singles as well as two various-artist compilation albums to date.

Thanks Taker_2004 for the banner!

I meant to make note of exactly that, actually!
I'm also toying with another music thread idea, but haven't had time to iron out the details. Busy, busy days.
I vote Nirvana also. I'll give this just a couple of days more l guess, since it is indeed utterly one-sided.
