Sagna took a nasty neck bump.

United are dicking on Swansea at the moment. Surprised to see Swansea start without Bony though, is he injured or something?

He's not injured, so I'm not sure why he's not starting. To be fair, we've had a good amount of chances but United had a great 3 minutes and got 2-0 up... I'm hoping for a second half goal early on for the Swans to get us back into it.

Swansea started hoping not to get beat. Very rare u can play 2 front players and beat them (i know michu can play midfield, but u know what i mean).

I do hope there's some sort of plan at Arsenal or else this season is gonna be a long one. We haven't been contenders since 2008 and the team is going backwards every season.

Swansea have looked great for a team 3-1 behind. They've dominated most of the second half and deserve a lot better than this.

Definitely a better second half. Welbecks second goal was class though. Picked the most difficult shot available and got it.

4-1 in the end, we deserved more, but it doesn't really matter. First game out of the way, and it was always going to be tough considering we haven't beaten United since we got into the Premier League. Bony scored his first of (hopefully) many though.

Always a tough first game of the season. At least you know Swansea will be fine. Got a good team and manager.

Yeah, I'm feeling good about the season. Welbeck was superb though, to be fair.

Didnt see much from bony tbh, but he took his goal well. I was expecting drogba. Jury is out on him at this point.

He's scored three goals in his first three games, so I can't really complain about that.

Good strikers don't have to do much as long as they take their chances. Bony did that.

I wouldnt class the european goals. Thats like united fans counting van persies goals from the charity shield.

One game, one goal is decent, i just didnt see him battle the utd centre backs (who were really poor today). I thought he would have been more like torres and drogba used to be and dominate physically. He looked a little lightweight to me.

So did van Persie. I didn't see a whole lot from him other than his goals. That sounds a bit stupid, but you know what I mean. He stood up front and waited to be called on. He's just a great finisher, it's the best place for him.

Exactly, great and even some good strikers don't have to do anything all game so long as they put the ball in the back of the net when they get a chance.

Against Fulham last season Cisse did nothing all game, and then popped up in the 92nd min and scored the only goal of the game. No one cares that he did nothing previous as he did his job when given a chance. I can even remember Shearer not doing much in some games but still scored and i think he's the best English and Premiership striker ever.

Did you watch the game?  RVP has an excellent game, his movement, his touch, his passing, his hold up play.  Even taking his two goals out of the game, he was still excellent.  Bony scored, but did nothing else (that I saw, I didn't watch the last 10 mins).  I agree that some strikers do nothing but score (Michael Owen and Darren Bent are probably the best English examples of this), but others have far more to their game and not only score, but also create in many different ways.

I dont like RVP (because of the arsenal connection) but I respect him as a striker because he is one of the best I've seen play.

I did watch it, yeah. And he definitely is an amazing player, but he's not the hardest of workers. He stays up front and does what he's best at, which is exactly where he should be. Today I saw more from Giggs and Carrick in terms of chasing the ball and whatever, van Persie was the target man. Nothing wrong with that.

Bony was in a similar role, he was waiting for balls from Michu and Dyer. He did less, but keep in mind that he was only on for the second half. Given that van Persie looked great against Swansea and Bony looked pretty good against United, I may even be a little more impressed with Bony's performance. It's way too early to say anything for sure though, I'll have to watch a couple more games. Based on today's performance I can definitely say he's no RVP, but he's good for Swansea's level and could be the striker they really need. I just hope he doesn't get in Michu's way.

Michu prefers the CAM role anyway, so having Bony take the up-front position will be fine with him.

Yeah, but Michu has pretty much been the man for Swansea for the last year. It worked well for them. Now if Laudrup gives the word to make Bony the target man, where does that leave Michu? He might not be left out completely, but any change from a working system is a concern. Maybe it'll be better, I don't know. Just hoping Michu still has the chance to do his thing because he was one of the more entertaining players to watch last season.
